Sugo

Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 October 2026 · Origami Ventures GmbH

1. Provider and contract

The contracting party is Origami Ventures GmbH, Kahlkamp 22, 22587 Hamburg, Germany (Hamburg Local Court [Amtsgericht Hamburg], HRB 151118; VAT ID DE369824919). Contact: info@makesugo.com. Sugo is an iPhone app for privately saving and cooking recipes. The website makesugo.com informs and hosts public recipe snapshots.

2. Use

For private use only. No automated bulk access. A subscription includes about 100 new recipe imports per month (fair use); sources that Sugo has already processed (served from cache) and recipes you type in yourself do not count. Rights in third-party recipes remain with the respective rights holders; Sugo stores your personal copy.

3. Account

You are responsible for your credentials. Accounts may be suspended for abuse or automation.

4. Free period, subscriptions and fees

1. Free premium period. New accounts get 30 days of all premium features (changing servings, notes on steps, Send to Bring!, inviting people to a box, extra boxes), without a subscription and without entering payment details.

2. Free imports. Independently of that period, every account includes 7 free recipe imports in total. They count from sign-up, do not expire, and the 30-day period does not add more. New accounts also start with one sample recipe; it does not count as an import and can be deleted at any time.

3. Subscriptions. More imports than the 7 free ones (about 100 a month, see section 2), and the premium features after the 30 days, require a Sugo subscription, purchased in the app via Apple In-App Purchase:
– Sugo Yearly — billed once per year;
– Sugo Monthly — billed once per month.
The price in your currency is shown in the app and on Apple's purchase sheet before you confirm (in the EU/EEA incl. VAT).

4. Automatic renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them at any time in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling ends renewal at the end of the paid period.

5. Always free. Reading your saved recipes, cook mode, the shopping list, leftover free imports and joining a shared box remain available without a subscription. Your box remains yours after cancellation.

6. Withdrawal. For digital content, the right of withdrawal follows Apple's rules for purchases in the App Store.

4a. Apple's licence terms

Use of the iOS app is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (standard EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. Where these terms and the standard EULA differ for the app, the standard EULA applies to the licence of the app; these terms govern the Sugo service.

5. Liability

Extracts can be wrong. Cooking remains your responsibility. Unlimited liability for intent, gross negligence, and injury to life, body, or health; otherwise as provided by law.

6. Final provisions

German law applies. Place of jurisdiction, where permitted, is Hamburg. If individual clauses are invalid, the remainder stays in force.
